Studies of fish passage systems

On May 06 2021, LNEC's researcher Ana Estela Barbosa presented the activity of the Hydraulics and Environment Department to a group of students from the School of Agronomy of the University of Lisbon.

The studies of fish passage systems were one of the topics.

Fish passages ensure the river's continuity between the downstream and upstream of a dam, reducing the barrier effect of this infrastructure. They allow that fish species can maintain their migratory movements, have access to habitats, places for breeding, refuge and food.
