On March 7 2018, WADI’s partners EDIA and LNEC headed off to Évora, Portugal, to present a Paper on the WADI project at the 14th Water Congress.

The conference targeted Portuguese-speaking countries and was organized by the Portuguese Association of Water Resources (APRH). This year’s edition was focused on the new challenges of water resources management, with an intention of meeting the United Nations’ goals on sustainable development and of coping with the threats posed by climate change. The three-day event offered a stage for the hundreds of people who participated to discuss and to promote scientific innovation aimed at increasing efficiency in water supply systems.

Within this framework, representatives from EDIA and LNEC presented a paper entitled "WADI - innovative detection of water leaks in big water transmission mains using manned and unmanned aerial vehicles” to an audience composed of water authorities, municipalities, water distribution companies and irrigation associations. The presentation provided an overview of the WADI project’s scope, its methodology and the work performed so far to achieve its new efficient method to detect water leaks. EDIA concluded the speech with a general description of the site in the Alqueva region of Portugal where the WADI service will be tested.
