  • 1993 -  PhD in Civil Engineering (Structures), by the Technical University of Construction and Architecture of Kiev, with the thesis "The Three-dimensional Stress-Strain State in Joints".

  • 1986 - Graduated in Naval Engineering, by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University, with the dissertation "Offshore Oil Exploration Platforms”.

Research and Professional Activity

  • Structural health monitoring of some bridges in Portugal: Rainha Santa Isabel Bridge (Coimbra), the New Bridge over the River Sado (Alcácer), the São João Railway Bridge (Oporto), and in Africa: Catumbela cable-stayed Bridge (Angola), 17 de Setembro Bridge (Angola), Salah Bey Viaduc (Algeria) and Ribeira D’Água Bridge (Cape Verde).
  • Participation in the load testing of more than 60 bridges.
  • Inspection of dozens of concrete, steel and masonry bridges.
  • Participation in several research projects.
