Projects - COASTIN: Measuring, Monitoring and Managing Sustainability: The Coastal Dimension
The project analysed in which ways the social drivers – demographic, cultural, technological and market – interact with the natural systems and generate impacts in India’s coastal resources, with the objective of developing a measuring, monitoring and management system of the development of the coastal area which promotes the sustainable development of the coastal regions. The following was analysed: (a) the key variables affecting coastal resources and ecosystems, (b) the political choices of the decision-makers, (3) the information and decision tools’ requirements for an efficient management of coastal regions of Goa, Thane and Kakinada, India.
