Dória Rodrigues Costa

She develops studies on stone and related materials characterization and on stone conservation. Decay and conservation actions, namely protection and consolidation or cleaning, are relevant topics. Laboratory studies to evaluate the effectiveness/harmfulness and durability of treatments applied to several types of substrates, namely on granites complemented by in situ evaluation. Stone materials characterization used as aggregates for concrete.

She has participated in several Research Projects related with Stone Conservation since 1991; STEP: " Degradation and conservation of granitic rocks with application to the megalithic monuments (Granitix) "; BRITE / EURAM: "Device for hardness measurements of exposed monumental rocks - Hardrock"; "On SITE monitoring of biological colonization of stone and plaster surfaces using field portable fluorescence based techniques"`; "Effects of the weathering on stone materials: assessment of their mechanical durability (McDUR)"; Charisma - Cultural Heritage Advanced Research Infrastructures, Synergy for a Multidisciplinary Approach to Conservation/Restoration; IPERION-CH - European research and access consortium on cultural heritage with responsibilities on the planning of the future European research infrastructure in the field.
