  • Characterization, behavior, development and application of construction materials, such as hydraulic concrete and mortars; hydraulic mortars modified with polymers and cement grouts.
  • Development and implementation of techniques for inspecting concrete in the structures and for repairing systems and materials.
  • Assessing of deterioration in concrete structures and durability of concrete and mortars.
  • Creep under tension of concrete.
  • Polymer action on cement materials.
  • Sampling and methodology for obtaining concrete dust in order to determine chloride concentration profile in concrete.
  • A new generation of guidelines to predict/evaluate the service life of cement based materials and structures in Europe by integrating the most recent developments in experimental and numerical approaches.

  • Coordination of the research project PTDC/ECM/101810/2008 "Polymer hydraulic cement mortars for repair of concrete structures”, with financial support from Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), 15-02-2010 to 15-02-2013.   • Evaluating concrete degradation of the retaining walls composed of piles and beams at Portas do Sol slope. Recommendations for their recuperation.

  • Recommendations for solutions to be taken to repair of viaducts between Berths 4 / 5 and 9 / 10 of APS.
  • Technical assessment of anomalies on "Parking of Frente Ribeirinha” at Lagos municipality.
  • Assessing the performance of the epoxy coating applied to the ozonisation chamber no. 1, line 1, of the water treatment station of Asseiceira.
