B-WaterSmart Lisbon Living Lab

On World Water Day 2024, Lisbon City Council, the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) and Water Europe organised the B-WaterSmart event, centred on the B-WaterSmart Lisbon Living Lab.

Given the limitation of local sources of fresh water and the growing pressure on demand for this resource, Lisbon City Council wants to intelligently promote good water resource management in order to mitigate the effects of climate change.

In view of this challenge, the European project B-Water Smart aims to be a mechanism that facilitates and boosts the development of a Strategic Agenda for Lisbon, encompassing strategic objectives for the whole city, together with a Strategic Plan for Lisbon City Council as owner of the Living Lab.

In this project, LNEC acts as the Living Lab's scientific mentor, using the co-production approach to promote innovation.

The work carried out by B-WaterSmart forms the basis for the establishment of a water-orientated Living Lab in Lisbon, in line with the criteria established by Water Europe and adopted by European Water4All.
