LNEC coordinates the Layers Project - On the thickness of the walls and the depth of the ground2025-02-10 The main aim of this project is to improve our knowledge of Renaissance tiles in Portugal by searching for what may be hidden behind or beneath what is currently visible, using geophysical techniques, in a group of emblematic monuments with tiles from the period. In addition to this, the project's objectives also include the possible detection of ancient water supply systems for convents and palaces, as well as the study of some aspects of their building structure. The Layers Projet, funded by FCT, under grant PTDC/HAR-HIS/5288/2020, also includes the participation of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of Universidade Nova de Lisboa and the Azulejo Museum. |
