The Electrotechnical and Mechanical Systems Unit develops scientific and technological activities in the field of Scientific Instrumentation, namely:
- Design and development of measuring instruments and test equipment for field or laboratory tests, specially designed for application in the broad field of Civil Engineering.
- Transduction of physical quantities, conditioning, data acquisition and digital signal processing, automation and control systems, power electronics and electromechanical drives
- Definition and establishment of test methodologies and participation in multidisciplinary teams aiming to conduct field and laboratory studies and tests.
- Technological consultancy, particularly in the selection and acquisition of diverse instrumentation, to support LNEC’s activities.
- Construction of measuring instruments’ prototypes, testing equipment, test specimens, and physical models.
