The Information Technologies and IT Infrastructures Unit is responsible for carrying out
of activities in the following areas:
a) Promotion of transversal projects with an information technology component;
b) Development, application and training in information systems and technologies;
c) Digital twins, systems management and real-time forecasting services;
d) Reliable real-time monitoring services;
e) Artificial intelligence and data science techniques;
f) Data management and preservation, reliability analysis, data fusion services and
centralized data repositories;
g) Remote resource-based artificial intelligence services for systems support
cyberphysicists;
h) Development and application of high-performance computing methods and their integration into national and international advanced computing networks;
i) Geographical systems and databases and WebGIS
j) Managing LNEC's communication and IT infrastructures, including managing workstations and servers and implementing security policies;
k) Developing, maintaining, and configuring applications that support LNEC's activities and user IT support.
The Information Technology and Computer Infrastructure Centre develops research, technological development, and Innovation (R&DI) activities in information systems and technologies applied to Civil Engineering. This activity is developed by an experienced and multidisciplinary team, with a strong background in computer engineering and computer science. It is funded through national and international research programs, with an emphasis on the European Commission and the FCT.
