She has been an Assistant Researcher at LNEC since June 2025. Between November 2019 and May 2025, she was a Postdoctorate at LNEC. Until October 2022, she carried out her work within the scope of the To-SEAlert and EW-Coast projects. Since 2022, she has been involved in, amongst others, the European projects LIFE-GARACHICO, C2IMPRESS (coordinator of the LNEC team, completed in 2025) and CLIMATE-ADAPT4EOSC. She is also involved in LNEC’s E2I projects: RISKALL (of which she is co-coordinator), STELLA, NAVPOR and WISER.

Main activities: all the activities related to the development of the projects objectives, namely the development of forecast, alert, emergency planning and management systems for wave overtopping and flooding in coastal and port areas, and multi-hazard analysis.

        Research and Professional Activity

From 2012 to June 2018 - Coordinator of the Mathematical Modelling Department at WW – Consultores de Hidráulica e Obras Marítimas, S.A.

Main activities: Coordination and development of studies of numerical modelling in the areas of maritime hydraulics and coastal engineering (wave propagation from offshore to onshore, wave disturbance in harbours and coastal areas, sediment transport, design wave definition), coordination and development of coastal protection design studies based in "soft” solutions (artificial dunes and geotextile cylinders), collaboration in the environmental part of the projects that were developed in WW, SA. Participation in all the design phases, from the Preliminary Design to the Detailed Design, both to public and private entities, at the national and international level.

From August 2010 to 2012 - Technical Engineer, Mathematical Modelling Department, at WW – Consultores de Hidráulica e Obras Marítimas, S.A.

Main activities: development of numerical modelling studies in maritime hydraulics and coastal engineering, collaboration in the development of the Management plans of the Hydrographic Regions 1, 2, 3 and 4 in their transition and coastal waters components.

The tasks performed have involved a series of specialized activities, such as data analysis and GIS software. The performed tasks have also involved the production of technical reports, of cartographic elements, and also oral presentations for project partners.

From October 2000 to April 2010 - Research Trainee at the Ports and Maritime Structures Unit, Hydraulics and Environment Department of the National Laboratory of Civil Engineering of Portugal (LNEC)

Main activities: has developed her activity within the maritime hydraulic areas, more precisely in the linear and nonlinear numerical modelling of wave propagation and deformation, including the surf zone, having also developed and applied GIS systems for coastal engineering studies, and developed wave disturbance numerical models. Has participated in all the phases of several research projects, including the proposal phase, the organization of technical and scientific events, the participation in technical meetings in Portugal and abroad, as well as the participation in field campaigns for data collection.

From May 2000 to September 2000 - Research Trainee at the Centre for Coastal and Marine Environmental Studies (CIACOMAR) from the University of Algarve

Main activities: has participated in the research project MAST III "INDIA - Inlet Dynamics Initiative: Algarve”, having also actively collaborated in the organization of the "3.º Simpósio sobre a Margem Continental Ibérica Atlântica”, that was held from 25 to 27 September 2000 in Faro, Portugal.

        Scientific Orientation

Is currently tutoring a doctorate student from the University of Algarve under the theme of compound flooding in estuarine environments. Is also tutoring a trainee under the theme of the SFINCS model application in Figueira da Foz harbour. Has supervised three Master’s students on topics relating to the use of numerical models in the calculation of wave overtopping. Has supported several research trainees, namely within the following themes: numerical modeling of wave propagation and deformation in coastal zones; application and development of integrated systems of wave disturbance modeling in GIS environment; development and implementation of HIDRALERTA system.
