        Areas of Research / Interest

        • Grid computing. Parallel programing in MPI and OpenMP.
        • Oil spill transport and weathering modelling in oceans, coastal zones and estuaries.
        • Remote sensing. Satellite images: RADAR-SAR and ASAR (satellites ERS1, ERS2 and ENVISAT), SeaWiFS, MERIS and MODIS AQUA.
        • Numerical modelling applied to estuarine and coastal dynamics


        Research and Professional Activity

        • Participated in more than three dozen research and consultancy projects in Portugal and abroad. Within the scope of these projects, conducted research in the fields of physical oceanography, remote sensing, numerical modeling (hydrodynamics and hydrocarbon evolution), and methodologies for risk analysis of oil spill occurrences in coastal areas.
        • Is (co-)author of more than 50 peer-reviewed publications (in journals and conferences) and technical reports.
