        R&D&I

The Structures Department develops R&D&I activity in the fields of structural safety, behaviour of structures in the life cycle, in particular the dynamic behaviour of structures and their vulnerability, seismic risk assessment, aerodynamics of structures, risk assessment of physical and biological degradation of wood and other natural materials and characterization of innovative products and construction systems.

This Strategy follows the guidelines of the Research and Innovation Strategy established by LNEC for 2021-2027 and includes the following research and innovation programs:

        • Bridge management support tools
        • Assessment, rehabilitation and structural strengthening
        • Development and optimization of biomaterials for construction
        • Structural systems and innovative products
        • Pre-normative research in the field of Structural Eurocodes
        • Risk assessment and mitigation for extreme actions
        • Quality of materials, safety and structural robustness
        • Methodologies for monitoring structural integrity
        • Modeling of seismic action
        • Modeling of structural behaviour
