In the year it celebrates six decades of activity, the GPBE – Portuguese Structural Concrete Group – marks this significant milestone by holding its 1st Symposium, reaffirming its role in promoting and enhancing knowledge in the field of structural concrete.

The Symposium will take place at LNEC on 6 November 2026 and will be dedicated to one of the most relevant topics for the future of professional practice: the Second Generation of Eurocode 2. Under the scientific coordination of Prof. João Almeida, the event will present the main new features of the standard and its National Annex.

More than just a technical event, this Symposium will establish itself as a true meeting point for the technical community, much like the Structural Concrete Meetings organised by the GPBE, encouraging the sharing of knowledge between academia and the technical community. The programme, to be made available shortly, will also include the presentation of the Young Masters Award and the new Excellence in Research Award, as well as the presentation of the Medal of Merit, in a session celebrating the 60th anniversary of the GPBE.
