The 4th Luso-Spanish Hydrography Conference took place from 24 to 26 June 2026 at the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute (Instituto Hidrográfico) in Lisbon. The event was jointly organized by the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute and the Spanish Hydrographic Institute of the Navy (Instituto Hidrográfico de la Marina), bringing together experts, researchers, and technicians to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience in hydrography and related sciences.

During the conference, several presentations were delivered by researchers from the Department of Hydraulics and Environment (Ports and Maritime Structures Unit and Estuaries and Coastal Zones Unit) of the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering, including:

• Projected wave overtopping hazards over the breakwaters of Figueira da Foz port – Authors: Ana Catarina Zózimo, Rui Capitão, Liliana V. Pinheiro, Carolina Martinez and Conceição Fortes
• Video processing of overtopping in rubble-mound breakwaters – Authors: Rute Lemos, Conceição J.E.M. Fortes, Mariana Silva, José Rodrigues e Pedro Jorge
• Wave run-up and wave-induced pressures on coastal structures under very shallow foreshore conditions – Authors: Carolina Martinez, Ana Mendonça, Rute Lemos and Diogo Mendes
• Wave Climate Characterization for the Structural Design of Biodiversity-Enhancing Blocks at Cova do Vapor – Authors: Rui Capitão,      Conceição J.E.M. Fortes, Rosa Soares, Ana Mendonça
