LNEC hosted students from the Portuguese Air Force Academy in a visit that gave them direct insight into some of the Laboratory’s most relevant scientific and technological facilities.

The visit began at the Structural Behaviour Unit, where the students learned about the testing and assessment of structural systems and elements, including steel. 

The itinerary then continued to the Wind Tunnel, part of the Structures Aerodynamics Unit, where visitors saw how LNEC studies the impact of wind on reduced-scale models and structural solutions. 

The visit concluded at the Seismic Platform, in the Structures Seismology and Dynamics Unit, where the students observed how LNEC reproduces earthquake actions to study the behaviour of structures under seismic action.

O LNEC recebeu a visita de alunos da Academia da Força Aérea, numa iniciativa que permitiu aos visitantes conhecer de perto algumas das principais infraestruturas científicas e tecnológicas do Laboratório. 

A visita começou no Núcleo de Comportamento de Estruturas, onde os alunos puderam observar o trabalho desenvolvido no estudo da segurança e desempenho de estruturas e elementos estruturais, incluindo aço. 

O percurso prosseguiu para o Túnel de Vento, integrado na Unidade de Aerodinâmica de Estruturas, onde os visitantes acompanharam como se avaliam os efeitos do vento sobre modelos reduzidos e outras soluções estruturais. 

A visita terminou na Plataforma Sísmica, no Núcleo de Engenharia Sísmica e Dinâmica de Estruturas, onde foi possível compreender como o LNEC simula o comportamento de estruturas sujeitas a ações sísmicas.
