The LNEC Building Finishes and Thermal Insulation Unit (NRI) from the Buildings Department, was visited by the ERASMUS French students from ESAI - Escola Superior de Atividades Imobliárias.

Here, they were able to observe first-hand specialized machinery and equipment used to test the durability, strength, adhesion, and other properties of coatings (such as mortars, paints, ceramics, stone) and insulations (thermal and acoustic).

One of the greatest points of interest was the chamber that simulates extreme environmental conditions (temperature and humidity variations, freeze/thaw cycles) to evaluate how materials behave over time.
