The LIFE Fitting Final Conference was held on 27th June at the main auditorium of the National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) in Lisbon.
The event presented the key outputs of the LIFE Fitting project, which focused on the monitoring and control of micropollutants and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in urban wastewater.
The project was developed by LNEC (Urban Water Unit), TRATAVE (the Ave wastewater treatment utility), and UCP (Universidade Católica Portuguesa – Escola Superior de Biotecnologia, Porto).
The project’s strategies and outputs support the implementation of the new Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive regarding micropollutants and AMR.
More broadly, they may contribute to the transition toward a smart-discharge-driven operation of WWTPs, promoting receiving water quality-based limits to better cope with climate change.
