LNEC welcomed 25 civil engineering students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology as part of a study visit aimed at introducing them to applied research in the field of engineering. The session began in the auditorium with a film about the Laboratory’s activities and areas of expertise.

The programme included a visit to the Concrete Dams Department, where the students visited the Rock Mechanics and Modelling Unit, having the opportunity to learn about projects and methodologies related to the study of hydraulic and geotechnical infrastructure. It continued in the Department of Buildings, at the Centre for Construction Behaviour and Technology, where work related to innovation and the performance of construction solutions for various climatic conditions was presented.

The visit concluded at the Department of Structures, specifically at the Centre for Seismic Engineering and Structural Dynamics, where the students were shown the wind tunnel and its applications in relation to extreme environmental conditions. This initiative reinforces LNEC’s role as a leading institution in knowledge sharing and in bridging the gap between research and engineering education at an international level.
