The retired LNEC's Senior Researcher Engineer Jorge Patrício was honored with the international “EAA Award for the Promotion of Acoustics in Europe.” The award was presented by the president of the European Acoustics Association, Dick Botteldooren, and by Prof. Michael Taroudakis during the opening ceremony of Forum Acusticum 2026.

He has coordinated or participated in numerous projects on environmental and building acoustics while he is author or editor of many books, technical reports and articles related to those areas, and acoustics in general.

On other side, he has had important administrative and outreach activities in acoustics which have been world-wide recognized, being also member and president of various international organizations dealing with noise and vibration control. 

This distinction recognizes "Jorge Patrício’s exceptional contribution to the promotion and development of acoustics in Europe", according to the EAA.
