LNEC will host the launch of issue 5 of the publication "Studies in Heritage Glazed Ceramics" on 17 July, between 10h00 and 12h30, in Portuguese.
The session will feature a presentation of the six articles in this issue by Professor Alfonso Pleguezuelo, from the University of Seville, and João Manuel Mimoso, coordinating researcher at LNEC, on the provenance and authorship of the 16th century tiles from the Bacalhôa Palace and Gardens in Azeitão.
The articles included in this issue are as follows:
- The enigmatic 16th-century river god azulejo panel of the Museu Palácio da Bacalhôa;
- The grotesque panels in the secret garden of the Palácio da Bacalhôa;
- Analytical study of Quinta da Bacalhôa's 16th century majolica panels with fauns;
- The 16th century patterned majolica tiles of the Palácio e Quinta da Bacalhôa;
- The Hispano-Moresque patterned tiles unique to the Quinta e Palácio da Bacalhôa in Portugal;
- Provenance of the Hispano-Moresque tiles exclusive to Bacalhôa, Portugal.
LNEC's participation in the research project on the Renaissance tiles of Bacalhôa took place under the operation of the E-RIHS.pt infrastructure funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
