At the welcoming ceremony, the president of the LNEC Board of Directors, Laura Caldeira, highlighted the Laboratory’s pride and honor in hosting this landmark event, highlighting its historic role in the advancement of civil engineering, both nationally and internationally. “LNEC has a long tradition of contributing to the progress of civil engineering. Holding this conference is the natural continuation of our mission to promote collaboration, dialogue and knowledge exchange at the highest level,” she said.
"Concrete Solutions 2025" presented a comprehensive technical program, with topics ranging from the latest technologies applied to concrete, durability assessment, rehabilitation of structures damaged by fire, to structural monitoring and heritage conservation. Innovations such as self-healing materials, risk management, service life design and composite reinforcement were also discussed.
According to the organizers, this conference is more than a scientific meeting: it is a global forum where engineers, researchers, professionals and policy makers come together to share solutions that shape the future of the built environment, with a strong focus on sustainability and the challenges posed by climate change and resource scarcity.
The event took place in Lisbon and is promoted by LNEC, with the support of several scientific and industrial entities, reinforcing Portugal's role as host of international initiatives in the area of civil engineering.
