The National Laboratory for Civil Engineering (LNEC) is participating in the European BIO-INTEL-MOB project, which aims to contribute to the development of more sustainable and intelligent mobility solutions in European peri-urban areas.
The project's first General Assembly took place on 17–18 September 2026 in Thessaloniki, Greece, bringing together 32 partners from 13 countries to share achievements from the first nine months of work and define the next steps.
LNEC was represented at the meeting by Eng. Sandra Vieira and Eng. Gonçalo Santos, from the Planning, Traffic and Safety Unit of the Transport Department.
🚲 Key project developments include:
🔹 Research activities on peri-urban mobility across Europe;
🔹 The launch of pilot projects in Rome, Cascais, Riga and Vilnius;
🔹 The assessment of potential locations for peri-urban mobility hubs;
🔹 Stronger cooperation among European partners.
LNEC's participation in this project strengthens its contribution to research and the development of innovative solutions that promote more sustainable and efficient transport systems.
