Hydroelectric power stations are complex infrastructures that are vital to the energy transition, and today they are being revolutionised by technology. Theme 4 of the LLC explores how modern engineering no longer exists solely in the physical world, but also encompasses:

- BIM and Digital Twins;

- Sensors, IoT and Drones;

- Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.

And where does the human factor come in? Through the "human-in-the-loop" concept - ensuring that, behind every algorithm and automated process, there is always qualified technical supervision to make final decisions safely and responsibly.

In Panel 4, the LLC discusses the following issues:

- What are the primary technical and organizational challenges involved in implementing digitalization strategies within hydroelectric projects?

- How can technological innovation contribute to safety control and to enhance the efficiency of water and energy resource management?

- In what ways can BIM models and Digital Twins serve as effective tools for the management of hydroelectric systems?

- How can the set of hydroelectric schemes in Portugal be managed in an integrated manner?
