LNEC researcher Rute Fontinha participated in the “200 Years of Aluminum” event organized by APAL, the Portuguese Aluminum Association.
The Champalimaud Foundation hosted the event marking 200 years of aluminum, a celebration that brought together dozens of professionals, companies, and institutional representatives for a moment of reflection, sharing, and appreciation of the sector.
The program featured three thematic panels, which addressed key issues for the industry, from sustainability and circularity to technological innovation and energy, fundamental pillars for the future of aluminum and for national economic development. The various sessions provided a space for reflection and vision for the future, addressing crucial topics such as: European strategic autonomy; certification and quality mechanisms; the energy transition; and the role of aluminum in building a more sustainable world.
