LNEC's Maritime Hydraulics Pavilion was visited by Dr Cristiano Fick, who is currently doing post-doctoral work at the Sedimentary Geology Laboratory of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he is carrying out physical model tests with shells in channels and tanks of the Density Current Studies Centre of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.

During the visit to LNEC, simple tests were carried out on the movement of synthetic shells by wave action in the PHM tanks, with the aim of observing their behaviour in a controlled environment.

This visit allowed the sharing of experiences and knowledge between institutions, fostering the integration of physical modelling and sedimentary studies in laboratory contexts.

O Pavilhão de Hidráulica Marítima (PHM) do LNEC recebeu a visita do Dr. Cristiano Fick, atualmente a realizar um pós-doutoramento no Laboratório de Geologia Sedimentar da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, no âmbito do qual desenvolve ensaios em modelo físico com conchas em canais e tanques do Núcleo de Estudos em Correntes de Densidade da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul.

Durante a visita ao LNEC, realizaram-se ensaios simples de movimentação de conchinhas sintéticas por ação de ondas nos tanques do PHM, com o objetivo de observar o seu comportamento em ambiente controlado.

Esta visita permitiu a partilha de experiências e conhecimentos entre instituições, favorecendo a integração entre a modelação física e os estudos sedimentares em contextos laboratoriais.
