LNEC welcomed three 6th-grade classes from Escola Almirante Gago Coutinho, as part of the School Open Day - an initiative that arose from the interest shown by the youngest students in previous editions of the Open Days. The event aimed to raise awareness of the work developed at LNEC and its impact on everyday life, encouraging students to explore possible careers in the field of engineering.

With great enthusiasm and curiosity, the students had the opportunity to explore the activity of some of LNEC's laboratories and discover, up close, the impact of engineering on our daily routine.

During the visit, the students and their teachers passed through the following areas:

• Building Components
• Metallic Products
• Dams
• Maritime Hydraulics
• Reaction to Fire
• Aerodynamics of Structures (Wind Tunnel)
• Thermal Insulators

This initiative arose from the desire to bring young people closer to the world of engineering and scientific research, encouraging interest in these areas dynamically and interactively. The students' enthusiasm showed us that the future of engineering may be closer than we imagine.
