Three collaborative workshops were held at the Padre António Vieira Secondary School of the Alvalade School Group, led by sociologist Maria João Freitas, from LNEC, in anticipation of the LNEC Lisbon Conference 2025, which took place on 8 and 9 October.
In the sessions, which were attended by a total of 70 students from the 11th and 12th grades, those present were challenged to reflect on concepts such as innovation, sustainability and smart cities, encouraging them to share their dreams, concerns and ideas about the future of the built environment.
Through group exercises and digital activities, participants explored notions such as the circular economy, new means of transport, urban well-being, and efficient resource management. The aim was to gather contributions that inspired the debates at the LNEC Lisbon Conference, where it was considered that "the cities of the future are built above all by young people, who will be the main protagonists of innovation and sustainability.
