The Chair of the LNEC Board of Directors, Laura Caldeira, was honoured with the Distinguished Female Engineer Award from FEUP - Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, a biennial award that recognises scientific, technical and institutional excellence, highlighting the contribution of women to the development of engineering.

With a degree and PhD from FEUP, engineer Laura Caldeira has built a distinguished career in the field of geotechnical engineering, marked by research, institutional leadership and a strong connection to university teaching, both in Portugal and internationally.

This recognition highlights not only a professional career of ‘high rigour and impact’, but also the fundamental role of female engineers in innovation, decision-making and the progress of engineering.

A Presidente do Conselho Diretivo do LNEC, Laura Caldeira, foi distinguida com o Prémio Engenharia Distinta no Feminino da FEUP - Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, uma distinção bienal que reconhece percursos de excelência científica, técnica e institucional, sublinhando o contributo das mulheres para o desenvolvimento da engenharia.

Licenciada e doutorada pela FEUP, a engenheira Laura Caldeira construiu um percurso de referência na área da engenharia geotécnica, com uma carreira marcada pela investigação, pela liderança institucional e por uma forte ligação ao ensino universitário, em Portugal e no contexto internacional.

Este reconhecimento destaca não apenas um trajeto profissional de "elevado rigor e impacto", mas também o papel fundamental das engenheiras na inovação, na tomada de decisão e no progresso da engenharia.
