LNEC welcomed 11 second-year students from the Civil Construction Technician program at the Gustave Eiffel Vocational School for an informal field trip that gave the students a close-up look at the scientific and technological work carried out at the Laboratory. The session began with a “General Presentation of LNEC and viewing of an institutional film,” where the students learned about LNEC’s mission and the impact of applied research on the construction, safety, and sustainability of infrastructure.

The visit continued in the Buildings Department, with a stop at the “Center for Building Behavior and Technology,” where they observed how LNEC studies materials, construction solutions, and building performance, promoting the quality and durability of the built environment. Next was the Structures Department, where they were shown the work carried out in the structural assessment, monitoring, and safety of bridges, buildings, and other engineering structures.

The tour concluded at the Center for Seismic Engineering and Structural Dynamics, with a highlight being the Seismic Platform, one of LNEC’s most iconic pieces of equipment, used to study the behavior of structures under seismic loads. The students showed great interest throughout the visit and expressed a desire to return in the future for internships and hands-on research experiences. Good luck!
