DEVELOPED ACTIVITY
Research in the scope of monitoring, numerical modelling and interpretation of the observed behaviour of concrete and masonry dams over time, with a special focus on the deterioration processes of dams affected by concrete swelling
Supervision of 4 doctoral theses and 17 master's theses
Application of research results in analysing the behaviour and safety control of concrete and masonry dams during the construction, first filling and exploration phases, highlighting studies on the following dams: Crestuma, Salamonde, Santa Luzia, Miranda, Picote, Bemposta, Catapereiro, Ferradosa, Olgas, Pretarouca, Covão do Ferro, Penide, Baixo Sabor, Feiticeiro and Alto Tâmega, in Portugal; and Cahora Bassa, Chicamba and Mavuzi, in Mozambique
