LNEC welcomed a group of students from Miguel Torga Secondary School in Monte Abraão as part of an initiative designed to provide a hands-on, practical introduction to the world of civil engineering.
During the visit, the students explored the Buildings Department and the Structures Department, where they had direct contact with projects, materials, technologies, and real-world challenges in the field.
One of the highlights was a tour of the wind tunnel, a state-of-the-art facility at the Laboratory that allows for the study of how buildings and structures behave under wind loads; an experience that sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among the students.
More than just a visit, it was an opportunity to inspire future academic and professional choices, demonstrating the essential role of engineering in building a safer and more sustainable future.
