Goals
The aim of the project was to propose and analyse alternative solutions for rehabilitation of a pocket beach, which, due to recent erosion episodes, suffered a significant reduction of the emerged beach width at the southern stretch. The methodology applied, mostly based in mathematical modelling, was divided in two phases: (i) characterisation of the hydrodynamics and sediment dynamics of the nearshore and beach and identification of the erosion causes; (ii) study of alternative solutions for beach rehabilitation and recommendation of interventions for future maintenance and improvement.
