Methodology
These objectives will be accomplished through the following steps:

• development of a numerical wave flume to model the propagation of wave groups over varying-depth regions;
• theoretical study of the release of bound long-wave energy by means of the development analytical models for this phenomenon and establishment of their validity region;
• analytical and numerical study of the influence of coastal morphology on trapped-wave propagation along the coast;
• Collection of field data to validate the models developed.

Results
Fully non-linear numerical model for wave propagation in flumes with variable depth; analytical models for study the release of long waves from the groups; field data collected in the South of Portugal.
