Goals
General assessment of the situation of the river Douro with respect to sediment transport, aggregate extraction and dredging of the navigation channel. The estuarine study was focused on: hydrodynamic and sedimentary characteristics of the estuary; characteristics of the navigation channel, dredging activity and recent morphologic evolution of the estuary; simulation of sediment transport capacities; and identification of areas requiring maintenance dredging.
