(2009-2010).Coordinator of LNEC´s participation in the EU´s VI Framework Research Program STREPs ´RIPCORD-Road infrastructure safety protection-Core research and development for road safety in Europe; increasing safety and reliability of secondary roads for a sustainable surface transport´ (2004-2008), ´IN-SAFETY - Infrastructure and Safety´ (2004-2008) and IRP ´SafetyNet - The European Road Safety Observatory´ (2004-2009). He was responsible for Road Safety related disciplines in the Transportation MSc course of Instituto Superior Técnico (2001-2007), the Road Engineering MSc course of the Universities of Coimbra and Minho (2001-2007) and the Urban Engineering MSc course of the University of Coimbra (1993-2000). Coordinator of a one week course on accident investigation and reconstruction, for the Associação Portuguesa de Seguradores (Portuguese Insurers Association), in 2005. Responsible for classes on simulation and reconstruction of road accidents, in the ´Road Accident Week´ of the Judge and Attorney General High Course at the Ministry of Justice´s Centro de Estudos Judiciários (1993-2008). Responsible for classes on ´Infrastructure corrective actions´ and ´Urban road design´ of the course ´Safety and urban road management´ promoted by the Portuguese Association for Road Accident Prevention (PRP) in 1999 and 2000. Supervisor of six PhD's dissertations at the Instituto Superior Técnico and Faculdade de Ciências of the University of Lisboa, University of Coimbra and the University of Porto. Supervisor of seven pré-Bologna MSc dissertations, in several universities.
