Planned research in LNEC is developed according to four-year programmes
of strategic nature, designated Planned Research Programme (P2I). The
research topics are selected according to the priorities of the
country.
The definition of the various lines of research and
projects that substantiate the P2I has always in accountthe research
needs detected by the practice of civil engineering and is,
increasingly, made in partnership with other entities from the Science
& Technology system, or from the construction business sector, both
national and international.
For the period 2013-2020, this
activity is in line with the objectives set out in the major national
strategies in the fields of construction, habitat and environment
(energy, climate, water, sustainable development, urban development),
giving priority to Applied Research (I), Experimental Development (D),
and Innovation (I) and gradually increasing the weight of R & D
& I activities in the overall Science and Technology (S & T)
activity. |

There is also a general alignment with EU themes: Europe 2020 (Horizon 2020)
and the Cohesion Policy 2014-2020. Within the EU issues, special
attention is to be given to resource management, new materials and
products, information technology and communication and socio-territorial
innovation.
During this period, LNEC will invest in Innovation
activities as a factor of expertise and competitive advantage. In this
sense, the role of the LNEC is preferably oriented towards the
collaboration with other entities in the development of new processes,
products and services likely to be placed on the markets (national and
international). Accordingly, LNEC should be seen as an innovation
partner.
The strengthening of the relative weight of Innovation
activity in the total activity of R&D&I is at the same time a
goal and a decision criterion in the selection of customers and partners
and in attracting R & D contracts. |
