The Electrotechnical and Mechanical Systems Unit (NSEM) develops scientific and technological activities in the field of Scientific Instrumentation, namely:
Design and development of measuring instruments and test equipment for field or laboratory tests, specially designed for application in the broad field of Civil Engineering.
Transduction of physical quantities, conditioning, data acquisition and digital signal processing, automation and control systems, power electronics and electromechanical drives.
Definition and establishment of test methodologies and participation in multidisciplinary teams aiming to conduct field and laboratory studies and tests.
Technological consultancy, particularly in the selection and acquisition of diverse instrumentation, to support LNEC activities.
Construction of measuring instruments prototypes, testing equipment, test specimens, and physical models.
