The Structural Behaviour Unit (NCE) is a division of the Structures Department that resulted from merging the former Structural Behaviour and Timber Structures Units, combining their areas of competence:


Behaviour of structures and structural elements in timber, reinforced or prestressed concrete, steel and masonry, including their safety when exposed to fire;


Diagnostic techniques, safety assessment, rehabilitation and reinforcement of structures;

Prefabricated building systems;

Temporary structures (greenhouses, scaffolding, falsework);

Wood-based products for construction;

Durability and protection of timber and other biomaterials;

Steel products for reinforced or prestressed concrete.
