Projects - AGIR - Assessment of water and energy efficiency in collective irrigation systems
Agriculture and public water supply are the primary sources of pressure on renewable water resources. For higher water and energy savings in irrigation, it is essential an efficient management of collective irrigation systems (CISs) for water storage, transport and distribution to farmers. However, unlike the urban water systems, there is a lack of an integrated approach that quantifies water and energy inefficiencies, identifies critical areas and supports planning and monitoring improvement measures in those infrastructures.
