Areas of Research / Interest

  • Paving materials (including non-traditional materials) and associated construction technologies.
  • Maintenance, rehabilitation and recycling of pavements.
  • Structural and functional characterization of road and airport pavements.
  • Monitoring of pavements behaviour, modelling and design.

Research and Professional Activity

Fátima Batista has specialized in the field of road and airfield pavements. She has been involved in national and international research projects among which are the following:
  • European Projects: FunDBitS – "Functional Durability-related Bitumen Specification” (CEDR, 2014 2015); CoRePaSol – "Characterization of advanced cold recycling bitumen stabilized pavement solutions” (CEDR, 2013 2014); Re-Road – "End of life strategies for asphalt pavements” (FP7, 2009 2012); DIRECT-MAT – "Dismantling and Recycling Techniques for road materials” (FP7, 2009 2011); COST 343 – "Reduction in Road Closures by Improved Maintenance Procedures” (COST Action, 1999 2004); PARIS – "Performance Analysis of Road Infrastructure” (FP4, 1997 1998).
