Areas of Research / Interest

  • Grid computing. Parallel programing in MPI and OpenMP.
  • Oil spill transport and weathering modelling in oceans, coastal zones and estuaries.
  • Remote sensing. Satellite images: RADAR-SAR and ASAR (satellites ERS1, ERS2 and ENVISAT), SeaWiFS, MERIS and MODIS AQUA.
  • Numerical modelling applied to estuarine and coastal dynamics

Research and Professional Activity

  • Participated in more than a dozen research and consultancy projects in Portugal and abroad. In these projects he has developed research in the areas of Oceanography, remote sensing, numerical modeling (hydrodynamic and oil spill weathering) and also on risk assessment methodologies for oil spills in coastal zones.
  • He is co-author of more than 30 publications peer-reviewed (journals and Conferences) and technical reports.
