Research and Professional Activity

Participated in various consultancy projects involving numerical modelling of wave propagation, wave agitation characterization; resonance studies; shelter and operability study of port terminals; impact assessment of the construction of port infrastructures; numerical testing of moored ships. Also has been part of various consultancy projects of physical scale model tests for the assessment of stability and overtopping of coastal structures and wave agitation tests and various field campaigns with in-situ free surface elevation measurement.

Scientific Orientation

Welcoming and orientation of several interns and visitors from various nationalities at the Harbours and Maritime Structures Division, including PhD Students, Post-Docs, Graduate Students, Master Students Internships and Research Trainees.

  • Adolpho Loureiro prize for the work intitled: " Generation of Irregular Waves in a Finite Element Model of Nonlinear Wave Propagation” presented at the 5ªs Jornadas Portuguesas de engenharia costeira e portuária, Lisboa, Outubro de 2007.
  • Eng.ª Cruz Azevedo Award for best paper of the year in 2017in the scientific journal Revista Mecânica Experimental, awarded by the Portuguese Association of Experimental Tensions Analysis.
