• Member of LNEC's team in the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation financed research project:2005/2009 - IRUMS - Safer roads in urban areas, project financed  by FCT (POCI/TRA/58259/2004), with the development of tools that allow the inclusion of safety aspects in the intervention process in urban transport networks. Within this work several accident prediction models were developed for urban areas.

Scientific guidance, as principal advisor, of  MSc students of the New University of Lisbon:

• Detailed Diagnosis of road safety in urban areas;
• Characterization of the traffic fluctuation in the city of Lisbon;
• The use of nomadic devices while walking. Obervation and analysis of traffic interactions in the city of Lisbon;
• Methodology for the definition of  pedestrian exposure indicators for road accidents' modeling.
